Lab Rat... That's me

I got my MRI results last Thursday. I’ll let you decided if you think they are good or bad, b/c I can’t seem to fully commit to a decision. Even the Dr. had mixed feelings. My blood work came back negative and my MRI came back clean. So I don’t have a tumor or aneurism or anything major like that. That is the good part. However, we still don’t know what is causing the headaches and now migraines. That would be the bad part.

The next step is to have a spinal tap or lumbar puncture, same thing different names. I’m NOT looking forward to this, not one bit! Not only does it sound extremely unpleasant with the possible side effect of the worst headache ever, but my back (especially the spine) is very sensitive. I can’t get my haircut if there isn’t a chair between me and the scissors. I can’t put my back to a fire or anything that gives off energy. Any type of energy directed at my back causes tickle/pain. Can you picture me lying on the table and the Dr. saying “ok now don’t move” as he is (1) touching my back and (2) directing all his focus and attention at my spine? I think you are wishing you could be a fly on the wall.

The spinal tap is to check for pressure in my head. I don’t know what the next step is if this test shows nothing. I’m still waiting to find that out. All I know is that I want an answer so that this pain will stop. As I am typing this I’m wearing my sunglasses b/c the light is hurting my eyes which then hurts my head. So before I start feeling worse I will end this post. Please keep me in your prayers.

Update: Even though I didn’t post this until today I actually wrote the top part last Friday. I know I’m a bit slow. I have also been scheduled for another test, a TCD (Trans-Cranial Doppler). It’s like an ultrasound for the brain. They want to watch my blood flow. This should be interesting. I’m scheduled for this test on Friday and I’m still waiting to hear about the Spinal Tap. That’s all I have for now I’ll let you know when I know anything more.

Please Make It Go Away

I finally went to see a neurologist on Thursday. I have been suffering from headaches for 8 years. I get a headache almost daily. When they first started I would take a Tylenol and that would be all. Then the Tylenol stopped working and I discovered Excedrin. Excedrin and I became BFF's. I carried a small bottle in my purse at all times. When I felt a headache coming on I would take the regular dose of two pills. If I waited a bit too long I would take it with a Coke. Now if you don't know me this is a huge deal. I don't like the taste of cola, but to get rid of the headache I would suffer through the can of Coke. If I waited to long to take the Excedrin the only thing that would work was sleep.
A couple of years ago when I was in the hospital for stomach problems (gal stones) the Dr.'s were very concerned with my daily dose of aspirin. After getting out of the hospital, gallbladder free, I adjusted my Excedrin intake. I cut back to half a dose. A while back, I can't remember when, I came up with the clever idea that if I took 1 Excedrin in the morning I could avoid the whole headache all together. This system worked for quite some time. I was rarely getting headaches.
However, lately things have been changing. My headaches are becoming more sever. My prevention pill isn't working anymore. My headaches themselves have also been changing. They are in different spots and they also seem to be affecting my eyes. It was the sharp pain in my eyes that prompted me to ask my general Dr what we could do. He gave me a referral to the neurologist.
Now I don't want you thinking that I suffered from headaches for 8 years and never did anything besides pop pills. During the first year I did a lot. I had many Dr. visits all to no avail. One Dr. said it was a tension headache, after the MRI showed nothing. I disagreed with this diagnosis because I get headaches in sacrament meeting. I don't feel tense in sacrament! I will not disagree that some of my headaches may be brought on by tension, but it is not the main cause. I had my eyes checked. (My headache is usually between my eyes). I suffered through migraine medicine that only made me sicker. I went to a chiropractor. I went to an allergist. I chose to go to an allergist bc I realized that while I was on Allegra D my headaches were not as frequent. Unfortunately for me all the Allergist Dr. wanted to do was give me shots to build up my immunity. I don't have a problem, per se, with building up my immunity, but my headache problem was not being fixed. I diagnosed myself with sinus headaches and prescribed myself Excedrin.
The Neurologist order blood work and is going to do another MRI. He also gave me two medications to take. One is for prevention and the other is for when I get a headache. See I had the right idea, jut the wrong meds. So far its not working all that great. I took a pain pill 3 hours and 40 minutes ago. I get to take another one in 20 minutes...and counting. I know I have to give it time, blah blah blah. He did say that if the blood work and MRI came back with nothing I would get to have a spinal tap done. Oh, what joy! Can you say ouch? He said that he would be testing the pressure buildup in my head, bc too much pressure can lead to blindness. He said something else but I wasn't really paying attention. I have been totally freaked out about the crap going on with my eyes and my head always feels like its pressurized. The good thing is, I'm not blind yet, meaning I didn't wait too long to see a Dr. Also he isn't the type of Dr. to just throw medication at the problem without finding out what the problem is.
In the meantime I'm going to keep taking the pills and hope they work, wait for the MRI to be scheduled, and try not to freak out about going blind. I must admit I'm not doing very good with the last one. I was laying down in bed, sleeping, trying to get the headache to stop. I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep bc all I was doing was trying to imagine my life blind. I couldn't do my job blind...way too much computer work. My hobbies are reading, scrap booking, photography, puzzles, games (board and card), interior design, cross stitching, knitting and riding ATV's. I could still read through audio books and possible knit without sight, but the rest of it doesn't seem possible. See I told you I was freaking out! (deep breath) I'm going to go say a prayer for peace now then take another pain pill. I'll keep you updated on all my medical fun.

CONE HEAD

I REFUSE to be a grandma at the age of 31! Can you blame me? Due to my refusal my baby girl got fixed on the 17th. She had to wear the e-collar for 10 extremely long days. Luckily she learned quickly that she could still get through the dog door with the cone on her head. I was afraid that we were going to have a lot of messes in the house. She has been doing awesome on the potty training. There are still some occasional leaks when she is supper excited. I want to start letting her on some of carpeted areas in the house soon.

The first night she had the cone on was terrible. I didn’t know how the cone and her kennel would work so I decided to just leave the dogs out (on the tile) for the night. However, Miss Lillee got up at midnight for a stroll around the house. She must have still been sleepy because she was walking into scrapping the walls with her cone. (FYI this noise is actually amplified by earplugs!) I got up to make sure she could go out for a potty break then placed her and her brothers back in bed. This worked until 3 am when she went for another stroll. This is when I learned about the earplug amplification. At this point I was mad about being woken up again exhausted so I decided to try having her sleep in her kennel. After all, if she was in her kennel she couldn’t hit the walls with her cone. Once in her kennel, on the floor next to the bed, she didn’t settle down as I had hoped. Now she was hitting the kennel with the cone. I didn’t want her to wake up Neal, so I ended up freezing my toes off sleeping on the floor next to her kennel. She slept through the rest of the night (a whole 2 ½ hours). I spent the next couple of nights on the air-mattress. (My dog is so NOT spoiled) Luckily she eventually got a hang of the cone in her tight quarters (Really the kennel is quite large, but that evil cone took up lots of space.) and slept peacefully through the night.

Lillee was a menace with her cone. She is quite a handful as it is but the cone just made it worse. The cone situation was the hardest on KC. Lillee and KC play a lot. However, Lillee couldn’t figure out why she wasn’t supposed to play with KC while she had the cone on. Poor KC! When we were home we immediately corrected Lillee, but there was a lot of time for Lillee to torture KC while we are at work. Lillee walked into my legs numerous times and it hurt, bad. This gave me real sympathy for my middle child. Also Lillee managed to get the cone completely off one day while I was at work, for who knows how long. Twice she got the cone half off. Meaning the bottom of the cone was no longer on her neck, but in her mouth. She chewed it up pretty good.

Not only was Lillee torturing us with her cone, the cone was torturing her. She itched a lot. There were times when she would have an itch so bad, that she couldn’t reach, that she literally was crying. The cone matted her hair behind her ears and on the back of her neck. I had no other choice but to cut the mats off. They were tight to her head, which could cause skin problems if not removed. Suffice it to say that the whole house was very happy when Lillee’s cone came off.
Lillee got groomed yesterday. She lost more than half of her length. Her groomer Shauna did the best she could to blend in the chopped off portion part I cut with the rest of her body. I think she did a good job. (Especially considering what I gave her to work with.)

I also think Lillee is supper cute. You should feel her hair it is like running your fingers through silk. I might be extremely slightly prejudice, but I think my dogs kids are the best!

I'm back

I'm sorry that I left you, my devote followers, for such a long period of time without posting. Okay seriously though life has been hectic and crazy. I cannot believe that it has been since 8/30/09 since my last post. I don't know if I can even remember all the things that have happened since. Don't get me wrong it is not like my life is jam packed with fun and adventure, more like drudgery and exhaustion. I spend the day staring at my computer at work and it seems the last thing I want to do when I get home is stair at my computer some more (even though mine is much nicer). I’m also why too tired to be creative and entertaining. The worst part is during my lunch I would love to get on and post, but no. The school and their supper filter have decided that blogs are an unsafe place to go. So now, unlike last year, I cannot access my blog from work. How sucky is that? I discovered this injustice was going to show my coworker some pictures of Lillee that I have on my blog. Also, why do I an adult (legally speaking) have the same filter restrictions as the high school students? Oh wait I know why, because of the sick0 adults who work in education who have abused the situation. That is why the rest of us (goody two shoes) get punished.

So for those of you asking yourself; what has changed? How come you’re posting today (on a week day none the less)? Well that is an easy question, I’m home sick. The stress at work and home and the pure exhaustion have left my body susceptible to illness. So my crappy allergies (I’m allergic to the desert and sometimes students i.e. work) were not enough to punish me they had to go and cause a sinus infection with a post nasal drip! Ever had a sinus infection? It hurts like…you fill in the blank. Yesterday I felt like the front of my head and my face were in a vise. It was like someone was torturing me. Just when I would start to sort of get used to the pressure, the vise would tighten, causing more pressure. Not only was there a vise on my head someone was also pouring acid down my throat! On top of all of this I also have a cut on my tongue. I have no clue how I got this cut. I only wish to never have this happen again. I never realized just how precious my tongue was before this happened. I use it to talk and eat! Two of my favorite things; my favorite things are not supposed to cause me pain. So here I sit in bed blogging to you. I was not going to return to work until the vise was removed from my head. I’m not a happy person when I’m sick and nobody wants to talk to an unhappy counselor.

I guess I’ll catch you up on the last three weeks now that I am done whining telling you about being sick and why I’ve been a slacker unable to blog. Nothing too exciting ever happens during the week. Neal and I are too busy working to do much of note. I try to run all my errands during the week, but like I said nothing note worthy. The last three weekends have been fun.
Last Saturday (9/19), Neal & I drove out to Cal-Nev-Ari where my parents are staying to go riding (ATV’s). We had a good time. Even though it was about 100 degrees it was okay because you have the hot wind to cool you off. We also had dinner with them. Waiting for dinner to cook would have been a great time to visit except that Bill their neighbor in the RV Park decided to come over and visit. I thought this was very rude of him. Clearly they already had company! This really upset me especially since the job my dad has been working on should be finishing this week and my parents will be returning to their home in Yuma, AZ. Cal-Nev-Ari is 1-1 ½ hours away; Yuma is about 4-5 hours. It really sucks that they will be so far away again. And Bill had to ruin my last chance to visit with my parents for quite some time. What a butthead! The whole time I just kept thinking, go away Bill!

Saturday (9/12) I got free tickets to the UNLV football game. We also got free food at the tailgate party. Neal & I are not huge football people. I do however, enjoy live games. It was a late game; it didn’t start until 8pm. Half time was about 10. It was shortly after half time we decided to leave. We were both tired and decided since we weren’t really UNLV supporters and we didn’t pay anything for the tickets it was okay to leave. As we were still walking out of the stadium the cannon went off, meaning UNLV scored. We missed the first touchdown by this much… Oh well, I will live. Sorry about the quality of the pictures. I forgot my camera so these were taken with my phone. Not the best quality, but you get the picture (pun intended).

Labor Day weekend was tons of fun! We left Friday night after work to drive up to Fillmore, UT. We meet my parents and my sister & her family there. We camped at the KOA in Fillmore. Since camping I have decided that I don’t like tents. If only I could win the lottery that I don’t play, then I could get myself a trailer. Ah, what pleasant dreams. Back to reality, I need to get used to the tent. The tent and I need to become best buddies. I would like tents better if the walls were straight and my hair didn’t become all static-y walking around the bed.

For those of you who have driven past Fillmore I’m sure you’re asking yourself “Why would anyone camp in Fillmore?” The answer is simple: Hundreds of miles of ATV trails! My parents have had their ATV’s for about 6 or 7 years. My sister family got ATV’s this spring. So it was planned for my sister and parents to meet in Fillmore to ride together. I kinda invited Neal & myself along. I figured we could take turns as we have always done. But a better idea came up while we were there: “Let’s rent ATV’s.” Well the price, $80 a day, was really good in comparison of other places that rent by the hour. However, two bikes for two days was bit too pricey. So we rented one bike for two days. I rode the first day. Neal stayed behind and watched the dogs. Really he fell asleep; we did not sleep well in the tent with the rain and then the wind. The second day, Neal rode the quad and I rode behind my sister on her bike. We rode about 50 miles each day. The scenery was breath taking! However, my body is not used to that much riding or trail abuse. I was very tired after my three day weekend and in no way wanted to return to work on Tuesday.

Anyway enjoy the pictures. Also after our camping trip I have decided to buy a bark collar for KC. He barked at everything; people walking by, people riding their quads by, people driving by in their cars, children playing in the distance. I think you get the point. First KC barks then JJ and Lillee. So if I can keep KC from barking, hopefully the other two won’t start. We are lucky no one in the park attempted to keep them from barking, if you know what I mean.

PS sorry it is just one picture. I spent all this time in photoshop creating a collage type thing so that there were not a million pictures, but it wont upload (grrr)

I just added all the Labor day pics on my facebook. So if we are friends you can check out all the beauty and fun.

H.H. 8/23-29/09

This week I’m full of questions. Here are just a few:
Did the headache cause the nausea or did the nausea cause the headache?
I fight to stay awake while sitting on the coach, because I figure if I take a nap I won’t be able to sleep tonight. So riddle me this batman…why do I get a second wind when it’s time for me to go to sleep?
How can I be two places at once? And how can I possible do all this work they expect me to do? I’m barely treading water with all I have to do and yet the man (aka: the principal) adds more to our (the counselors) work load. I find this illogical, unreasonable and inconsiderate. Despite this I survived the first week of school. It wore me out, I slept 11 hours Friday night and 12 hours Saturday night, and I still feel tired. I’m not ready to face tomorrow, but it’s going to come whether I’m ready or not. I’m so glad next weekend we get three days off.
Tuesday was a good day. Work went smoother than Monday; we actually got a potty break as well as a lunch break, unlike Monday. However, the best part came after work. I took a much needed nap when I got home. I decided that Mondays approach did not work (see above question). After my nap I headed off to my WW meeting. I am now officially down 51.6 lbs!!!!! After lots and lots of hard work and time I finally passed the 50 mark, earning me my 50 lb medal.

If you look closely you will notice that two of the cloth stars are doubled. This is because I had to lose 30 and 40 lbs twice.

For fun I put on my “fat” pants. As I lost weight I got rid of the clothes as I shrunk out of them. But I did keep one pair of pants the largest size I ever bought as well as my comfy sweatshirts. I can’t wait to see how much bigger they look at 75 lbs down and then when I reach my goal weight.

Baggy Butt
Hurry and take the picture before they fall off

Lots of wiggle room.

It made me sick and happy at the same time when I saw these pictures of me at my highest weight. It made me sick to realize that I ever got heavy and happy that I don’t look like that anymore.

Yes those are the same pants as above

I'm glad that I now have a chin, no many chins, as well as a jaw line.
What a difference 50 pounds makes!

I know its a fake cheesy smile, but look, one chin and an actual jaw line!

Saturday was good. First off I got to sleep in, always a great thing. Second, Neal and I went over to Erin & Shawn’s for dinner. The food was great and the company even better. (Even if Shawn did cheat at Mario Cart.)

Happy Happenings...sort of (8/16-22/09)

On Friday I realized that I had not been keeping track of my happy happenings throughout the week. I know myself. I know that I will have to keep track daily or I will forget all the great things that happened. Since I tend to focus on the negatives rather than the positives (my reason for happy happenings) my post would not be so happy. But I decided that even though I didn't create this weeks cheat sheet I would try and do my best.
I am happy to say that I survived this week of work. That is two weeks down, too many to go. I know, I know after the first two weeks of school things will get better. The first month of work (maybe two) for me is extremely busy and stressful. But it will pass, at least until the last two months of school.
On Tuesday my mom was in town and she came and stayed the night. I enjoyed seeing her. I would have enjoyed it more if I wasn't so dead tired. Luckily she was completely understanding of my resemblance to the zombies.
Last Tuesday at my weigh in at WW I was down 49 lbs even. Only one more pound to go. I vowed/bragged that I was going to blow past 50 lbs this week. I supposed my lose of .6 was Carma's way of saying haha that's what you get for bragging. What the freaking crap! Point 6! In the seven days between weigh ins I worked out 5 times and I ate all of the healthy food guidelines. I was PERFECT!!!!! Carma sucks, life sucks and nothing is fair.
On Wednesday I worked more overtime, (I don't get overtime pay, how sick am I?) making me even more exhausted. However, despite being tired life goes on and I still have things to do and commitments to fulfill. Neal and I had our final interview to renew our recommends, I realized on August 1st that our recommends expired on July 31st. Opps! Now that I'm official, once I stop resembling a zombie I will get to go to the temple again. Oh how I look forward to that. (being non-zombie and going to the temple)
I got to go swimming with the young women on Wednesday. I was not going to get my hair wet. I knew if I got my hair wet that I would have to shower when I got home. I also knew that if I showered at night i would use the excuse that I was already showered and clean to skip exercising in the morning. Of course trying to be in the pool with 12ish teenagers and not get my hair wet did not work. And of course I had to take a shower before bed or I would wake up with green hair. And of course I didn't exercise in the morning. As I said before, I know myself. Good new though, I did take a 20 minute break at work on Thursday. I used this time wisely. I did 10 minutes of standing yoga and a 10 minute power walk. Yeah for me.
Thursday was full of more non paid overtime. But when I finally got home I got to do one of my favorite things. Sit on the coach and knit while I watch TV commercial free.(really its DVD's of TV shows).
Friday we were supposed to go over to a friends house for dinner. She had very kindly invited us over. Unfortunately all the overtime had taken its toll (as well as the record breaking heat) and I was feeling very crappy. My dear Friend was very understanding when I called to see if we could do it some other day. I really hope she did understand I felt quite bad for having to cancel. Sorry Erin!
Saturday all I wanted to do was veg on the coach. I also had a whole list of things I needed to do. So I did something in between. I bathed KC, that was on my list. Then Neal and I left the kids home and went to do some things we needed to do and some things we wanted to do. Our first stop was the temple, actually the beehive clothing store. After losing 49 lbs I was in desperate need of some new under garments. You know your in desperate need when you have to yank your bottoms up to your boobs just so the crotch will not be half way down to your knees, but where it belongs. After that we headed to the outlet mall. However, after driving up to the top of the parking structure and then back down without finding a spot we decided we could live without going there. After getting something to eat, we headed over to the RV dealership. No we are not buying anything, we just went to look. Someday we will buy one and we just wanted to get an idea of what we liked and wanted. We want a 5th wheel toy hauler, with a garage. I really like the raptor. If I was rich, I would buy the Raptor, but I'm not so I will just have to be content to dream about the Raptor. You might find it funny (I know I do) that we went and looked at trailers when we don't even have a truck. We had a good time though, and you can't argue with free entertainment. Maybe next time we have a cool weekend we will go look at model homes, another form of free entertainment. After we finished doing what we wanted to do we then made a quick trip to Walmart and Sams club before heading home. I didn't get the floors clean or all the laundry done, but I had a good day.

2 Weeks of Happy Happenings

Week One
8/2-8/09
Sunday

I love Sunday’s. Sunday’s are one of my favorite days of the week. It would be my favorite except for the fact that it is followed by Monday. I love going to church and renewing myself for the upcoming week. I love that it is a day of “rest”. Sometime I take that quite literally, perhaps more so than I should. I love Sunday dinners, not that I make them, just fond memories from childhood. I really love Sunday naps, esp. when the weather is just right and I can lay on the hammock. In future posts I probably won’t say much about Sundays because nothing really stands out on a Sunday because the whole day is happy for me.
96 hours of no accidents. I’m so proud of Lillee for going 4 whole days without any mistakes.
Monday
Today I took my new pants over to Jennie’s to have her hem them. I’m her first costumer. (I’m special). It took no time at all for her to figure out how much to take of each pant. Somehow, despite the quick measuring I spent three hours at her house. We just stood there talking and talking and talking, it was great. I got to know her better, she is awesome. She smiles a lot and is fun to be around. I do feel bad though for taking up so much of her time. I didn’t have anything pressing to do, but I know she had things to get accomplished so I really appreciate her giving of her time. I guess I’m a bit starved for human adult contact.
Netflix is awesome! I love movies and what is better than having them delivered to your “front door”? I got two discs in the mail today. They are not anything special but it made me happy to know that I get to be lazy for a while and watch the DVD’s. I actually only got through one tonight, so I have another one for tomorrow and another disc should be in the mail. This make me smile :-)
Tuesday
My next door neighbor, Elio, has a pool, I’m envious. The summers here are so stinking hot and I often regret not getting a house with a pool. Or a hot tub at least, we could keep in cold in the summer. However, Elio offered us the use of his pool. He is going to leave the gate unlocked tomorrow for me to go swimming.
I weighed in at weight watchers tonight. I ate very poorly this past weekend and was not optimistic. I worked hard all week then blew it on Saturday. Sometime, heck all the time, I’m my worst enemy. However, despite my poor food choices I was pleased to find out that I had lost. The loose was not big, but it was in the right direction, so I will take it with a smile.
Wednesday
I got to go swimming today. I thought Neal was going to get off work early so I waited around for him to come home. Okay honestly I took a nap (loved it) while I waited. At ten he still wasn’t’ home so I went by myself. I was only in the pool for an hour, but it was a nice treat.
Lillee makes me laugh. I was outside with the dogs during the evening and I discovered one of the many things she barks at. Lillee barks at all unknown objects but this was too funny. Lillee was barking at the airplane flying overhead. Isn’t that just the craziest thing? I’m not talking a small 2 engine plane I’m talking about a major airline plane. She wouldn’t have even known it was up there (it didn’t make any noise) if it didn’t have its headlight on. Silly girl.
Thursday
The boys got their annual shots. KC usually gets sick from his shots but I gave him children’s Benadryl for a couple of days before and he did really well this time. JJ also had a urine analysis done to make sure all the infection and stuff was gone. I got a call from the vet this evening and he is good. That is a relief. My Angle is healthy and well!
Friday
I tackled my to do list, and I won. Not everything is done (never is) but most of it got accomplished. The biggest feat was getting my bathroom cleaned. I hate cleaning the bathroom! It is probably my least favorite thing to do so I put it off as long as I can. Turns out today was “as long as I could”. The best part is now that it is done I don’t have to do it again for…as long as I can put it off again.
Saturday
Wahoo! I finally did it. It only took me all summer, but I finally did it. At the start of my summer break I made a calendar that went through to the end of the summer. On my calendar I scheduled my workouts. On Monday, Wednesday & Friday I planned to do my 30 minute walk aerobics. On Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday I planned to do Yoga. That’s right I was going to go from not working out to working out six days a week. I didn’t start out strong. But I was working out and that was a step in the right direction. I missed a couple of weeks, due to travel. Although to be completely honest I could have worked out a couple times during those weeks instead of not doing it at all. Oh well that is water under the bridge. I was quite pleased with myself when I worked out five times in one week. I accomplished this a few times. However, it wasn’t until my very last week of summer that I achieved the goal I set at the beginning of the summer. Today marks the sixth day this week I worked out! I am very happy and proud of myself. Also a few days ago I made a new calendar that follows the same pattern. It starts where I left off and continues until the end of October. I would have gone further but I ran out of room on the paper. I will keep working toward exercising six times a week but I will not beat myself up over missing a few days.

Neal, Lillee and I went to Arizona. Lillee got to meet her grandma Latz for the first time. Neal stayed at his moms to help her out some and I went to into Kingman to visit with friends. Neal joined me with our friends in Kingman when he was finished at his moms. It was nice to get out of town and see people I love and care about.

Lillee with her grandma

Amy & Ella

Ella walking. She just turned one last week.

Alan
Jo & Nicoli

On the way home we decided to go the “dam” way (over the Hoover dam). The bypass bridge is almost done. It is way too high. It freaks me out just to look at it. How am I ever going to drive over it?

Week 2

8/9-15/09
Sunday

Sunday was not a happy day I woke up sick (the reason I didn’t post last week). I did sleep for 14 hours that made me kinda happy. I guess I was also happy to realize that after my 14 hours of sleep, it no longer hurt to swallow.
Monday
I returned to work today after a way too short (fast) summer. Things were not as I expected them to be, not what we planned before we left for summer break. This doesn’t really surprise me Rancho is famous for last minute changes/decisions. That is my opinion anyway. Although having to work is not really a happy thing it was nice to see co-workers and catch up.
Tuesday
Non- stop day. Go Go Go Go Go. That is all I did today. My day started at 4:45am and ended when I got home at 8:45pm. I do have to say though that I am quite proud of myself for doing 40 minutes of yoga before getting ready for work. My plan is to exercise in the morning before going to work. Our school is starting 30 minutes later than it did last year, so instead of sleep in 30 min (which I would love) I’m going to get up at the same time and workout. I didn’t do it yesterday due to the sickness on Sunday. I didn’t want to push myself too hard.
Wednesday
I’m tired! Yesterday wore me out. I don’t think my brain is even capable of forming sentences. I miss my lazy summer days…only 9 more months to go.
It touches a mom’s heart to know that when she is gone from the house her child sleeps by the door waiting for her to come home. Neal took this picture of Lillee waiting for me. What a sweet little girl.

Lillee at the door

Thursday
Ahhh finally a day when there are no errands to run and no obligation, it’s time to veggitate. I came home from work and changed into my PJ’s and spent the rest of the night on the coach watching Netflix DVD’s while I knitted. Now that is what I call a nice night.
Friday
Lillee likes the water. You have no idea how happy this makes me. My oldest, JJ, hates the water. He is basically a perfect dog, until it rains. He will only go outside in the rain by force. He doesn’t even like walking on a wet ground. It doesn’t matter to him if there is no water falling on him the ground is wet and that is bad enough. KC doesn’t care for water, but is no were near as bad as JJ. So it brings me a lot of pleasure to say that Lillee likes the water. When Neal waters the grass with the hose Lillee chases the water. She gets completely soaked, but she loves it. She sure is funny looking when she is wet.

Saturday
I dared to take my measurement today. I had planned on talking them once a month, but I couldn’t find my courage last month so none were taken then. I figured with all of this working out there had to be some change. I haven’t lost much weight this summer, only a couple of pounds, (plus the weight seems to be getting harder and harder to lose) so I was scared to take my measurements. Since May (my first measurements) I have lost a total of 10.75 inches. J Now if that doesn’t make you (me) smile I don’t know what will.
Lillee got all prettied up again today. One of these days I will bath her myself, but not yet. She looks so cute with the bow in her hair.

The internet is very helpful and I feel grateful to have it. On Friday I attempted to sync my phone to my computer. I hadn’t done this since June and I knew there was new information that needed to be saved. However, the stupid thing wouldn’t work. I went online to try and troubleshoot. I did all that was suggested and still no luck. However, it was today that I discovered Chat help. I was able to chat with a tech at Palm. With the kind woman’s help I was finally able to get my phone to sync. I never would have figured the problem out on my own. Love the internet (this is only one reason, but it’s a good one)

Sometimes shopping sucks

Ugh...
Today I went to Kohls to see if I could find an inexpensive shirt for work. I had a 15% off coupon and I figured if I bought an item on clearance or on sale I could get a shirt for next to nothing. Well I happened upon two very cute shirts that I really like. Both shirts were button up shirts, I'm drawn to button up shirts. I think it has something to do with wanting what you can't have.
You see I'm cursed! I have enough chest for two people. Now you may disagree with my assessment that I'm cursed, but we will just have to agree to disagree. My best friend, Jules, and I have been having this same argument for the last 13 years. What is worse to have too much or non at all? I always argue the too much, since I have too much. But I think having either extreme has got to suck. But shhh don't tell Jules I said that.
Back to the shirts, of course I didn't get them. They were, as I feared, too small in the bust. Fit just right everywhere else. Stupid boobs!
I have lost nearly 50 pound and the stupid things have not shrunk. Okay well maybe a tiny bit but not enough to go down a size. So I have a plan. When I get to my goal weight, I'm over half there, I'm going to get a breast reduction. I'm pretty sure the insurance will cover it with all this back pain I feel, so I'm not worried about the cost. I am worried, however, about finding the right Dr. I know someone who got a reduction and the Dr. messed up, big time. It was so bad that she then had to have implants to fix the problem. I don't want to have to do this. So if you have any knowledge at all about how to look for a plastic surgeon please let me know. I figure I should be at my goal weight by next summer so I have to start looking now so that I am ready. Plus maybe I will get to my goal before then (crossing fingers).
Look out button up shirts here I come!

Happy Happenings 7/26-8/1/09

Sunday
It was nice to come home after three hours of church to find that Lillee had used the outside for all her peeing and pooping. What a good girl.
After a lesson a few weeks ago about keeping the Sabbath day holy, and feeling guilty about not doing better, I was very proud of myself for not turning the TV on at all today.
Monday
I finally finished (for the most part) my list of things to do. The list is never ending, but I did get a lot done.
Tuesday
The inspection was finally done on the water heater (bout time). We can now put everything where we want it. Meaning we will finally put the paint back in the corner a few feet from the water heater.
After hours of working on the Microsoft movie maker I finally finished the slide show of girls camp. I had my struggles along the way (moving files and having to redo the show & music I wanted to use would not import –stupid copyrights, I bought the CD I should get to us it the way I want-)
Wednesday
Ahhhhhh (sigh of relief), the DVD burned. I had trouble burning a DVD the last time I made a movie and I was very worried that after all the work that was done it wouldn’t work. But I worried for nothing, all is well.
It was great to see my mom today. I drove over to Henderson to run errands with her and have lunch. I love having my mom not too far away and that I’m able to see her on a semi regular basis. I don’t care if our time is spent running errands as long as I have time with her.
The activity went really well. The girls seemed to really enjoy the movie slide show that I put together of the pictures from girls camp.
Thursday
24 hours of no accidents. Go Lillee!
Friday
I went shopping for some new work pants. I donated my tan and black pants to the DI at the end of the school year because they were too big. (huge grin) I first headed to Old Navy thank you Cortni for the 30% off discount email. Why is it that when you are looking for pants all you see are tops and vice versa? A sales girl came up to me to see if I needed any help finding anything. It was then that I realized I had an arm full of shirts and no pants. I needed to focus! I left the store with 3 shirts and 1 pair of brown pants. I then headed to Khols with my 15% off coupon for more pants. I did much better at this store. I only bought one pair of pants (tan), no shirts, but still no black pants. Ah shucks guess I will have to do more shopping.
48 hours of no accidents. Lillee your doing awesome!
Saturday
I started me day off with more shopping at Old Navy. The 30% off was still good and I still needed black pants. This time I left the store with two hoodies and one pair of black pants. I had finally completed my task of getting a pair of tan and black pants. The completion of said task only cost me a pair of brown pants, 3 shirts, and two hoodies on top of the pants I planned to buy. Back to school shopping is fun! It would have been more fun, or as I like to say funner, if I could have shopped with Audree and not alone.
I spent the rest of the day being lazy. I had planned to clean the house and be very productive, but shopping wore me out. Neal and I spent the day together doing nothing. It was great.
72 hours of no accidents. Keep it up Lillee I know you can do it. Okay so I have been praying for my little puppy and the Lord has been answering my prayers. It is nice to know the Heavenly Father cares enough about me and the little things that go on in my life that he would bless my little girl to learn. She has grown, changed and learned so much since we got her two months ago. It is a lot of fun watching her learn and grow. I think I was most happy when she learned the word “no”. This word has a lot of power and is very important. Lillee understanding the meaning of no is the key to Neal and me staying sane.

Your Help, Please

I am currently serving as a Young Women's advisor in my ward. I work with the laurel class (16-18). I'm trying to come up with some class activities ideas and I'm coming up blank. So I'm asking those of you who ever when to mutual or have served in the YW program for some help. If you had a favorite activity or just some great ideas could you please let me know. Leave a comment. If we use your idea I will let you know how it went.
Thanks in advance for all your great ideas.

Happy Happenings 7/19-25/09

Monday
Girls Day; today is Lynne’s birthday so we celebrated with pedicures and manicures. We also went out to lunch. After lunch we came back and floated in the pool. It was a good day.

Tuesday
I went to Ikea with my mom & Lynne. After months of saving I finally got the shelf, for my scrapbook room that I have been wanting. Thank you mom & Fran for the birthday money that made getting my shelf possible.
After shopping we spent hours floating and playing in the pool. It was great fun to watch Brett doing cannon balls. He practically emptied the pool.

Wednesday
I returned home to my kids and hubby. It is always nice to come home after a trip. Believe it or not Lillee actually grew/changed in the four days I was gone.

Thursday
It’s my birthday; wahoo another year older and hopefully wiser.
Opening my b-day gift from Audree was great. She sent the gift with Austin a month ago when he came for a visit. I was tempted to open it but I actually had the self control to wait. I know shocking.

My gift from Audree. Supper cute bag that she made, but very easy to cheat with.

All the birthday wishes made me smile. Thanks for the love.
Lillee got her last set of shots. She can now go to the groomers and learn to walk on a leash. He current weight is 5 lb 3 oz. I cannot believe how much she has grown in two months.
I got my shelf put together. I did it all by myself. The only help I got was when Neal helped me move it into my scrap room. I had to put it together in the “guest” room where there was floor space. Ha-ha the “guest” room is practically empty, because my “guest” bed is an air-mattress that is blown up only when guest come. I use the term “guest room” very liberally.

My shelf is awesome!

I got my first picture with all three dogs together, thanks to help of my shelf. J

My first attempt. It didn't go so well.

My second try turned out much better. They are so cute!
(No I'm not prejudice, not at all!)
Saturday
It has been overcast and muggy, this makes me lazy. All I want to do is lie on the coach and watch movies. I was quite happy when I finally got out of my funk and got productive. I accomplished some of the things on my list to do, and added more for the coming week. It feels good to be productive.
Lillee got her first bath! I took her to Petsmart to get the puppy package. They bathed & brushed her. They also trimmed her feet, face and belly. She has two bows in her hair. She is supper fluffy and cute.

Lillee looking up at me

In the evening we went to the stake Pioneer Day celebration. We enjoyed the inexpensive food, seeing friends from the ward and watching people.
The fire work display was pretty cool. I haven’t seen a fire work show for two years. (The last time I went to the pioneer day celebration) The finally was awesome and gave me goose bumps. The boom from the fireworks was so loud I felt the sound waves on my arms.

Sad Note
I had taken pictures of our manicures & pedicures. I also took some really awesome pictures of Brett’s cannon balls and other pool pictures. Sadly, while I was trying to get the “stamp date” turned on for Neal I accidentally erased everything off the card. I was very upset about erasing the pictures! I cannot believe I did that, it makes me very sad!

Another Year Older

Today marks another full revolution around the sun since my birth. When I turned 27 I started to freak out about turning 30. I was getting closer. I continued to freak out even more when I turned 28 and than 29. I had set certain goals to reach by the time I was 30. I was not even close to reaching my goal and there was no hope of being able to. By the time I actually turned 30 I was all out of being "freaked out" and it was no big deal.
This year I turned 31. I don't really have any feelings about my "old" age its just another year. I am, however, feeling sorry for myself. If I was in Salt Lake, as I had planed, I would be going out to dinner with friends & my sister. After dinner we were going to the Kenny Chesney concert. So instead of hanging out with friends/family and having a great time, I'm sitting at my computer writing this blog. Not exactly the birthday I had planned. Oh well, life goes on. I will live.

Happy Happenings 7/12-18

Sunday
It really touched my heart at the end of the lesson when Sister Purkey prayed for me.
While we were at church we let Lillee have run of the house (tiled areas). I was so proud of her for not making any messes in the house. This is the longest time she has been left out alone.
Monday
It made me happy when my workout was over. I didn’t work out at all last week because of girls camp and not feeling well. So when I finished my 30 minute workout which felt like a lifetime I was very very happy.
Tuesday
It was great when my mom showed up to spend the day with me. We did a lot of running around, but it was great to spend time with her, even if we were doing errands.
Wednesday
Young Women’s was a blast. We played water games.
It was really funny when Carter who is almost four threw a water balloon at me. It hit my neck and popped. Although it made my neck sting, it was nice to be cooled off.
While filling up water balloons and tying them I would accidentally drop the balloon. The balloon would then “fly” around squirting water all over the place. HAHAHA! It was so funny. Just picture it; I’m sure you will be laughing too.
Thursday
Eating a homemade quesadilla for lunch oh how YUMMY!
Having a hamburger for dinner; more Yummy-ness!
Lillee only had one accident the whole day. Way to go Lillee.
Friday
I went to the temple. It was great. I hadn’t been to the temple to do work since March. It had been way too long and it was about time I went back.
Lillee looked so funny when she came in from the yard. She had been running around of the wet grass. Her feet, face and belly were all wet and the rest of her was dry and fluffy. It made me laugh. I wish I would have gotten a picture of her.
Saturday
It has been a goal all summer to exercise six times a week, but so far I have been unable to reach my goal. However, today I exercised for the 5th time this week; my most so far. I would have done it 6 times but I was sick on Thursday. I was very proud of myself for getting up at 6:30 AM, on a Saturday, to work out before I left I left for Cal-Nev-Ari.
I had a great time visiting with my mom on our three hour drive to Riverside California.
It was great to see my brother, sister-n-law, niece and nephews. I haven’t seen them since Thanksgiving. It’s going to be a fun four days!
Finally getting to see Harry Potter! We went to the drive in to watch the movie. It was a lot of fun!

I'm a theif

As a teacher I was great at stealing other teachers great ideas. As a scrapbooker I scraplift all the time. Now it appears that even as a blog stalker I'm a thief.

My old friend, she is not old we have just known each other for a long time, has a great blog. Every Sunday she posts "Sunday Smiles". In her post she recaps all the things that made her smile that week. I love how positive and upbeat she is about her life. He "Sunday Smiles" post has inspired me to do something similar. So as not to copy her completely I will call my posts "Happy Happenings". Shel I hope you are not offended by my thievery. Remember imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Now I don't know if LeShel has to write her smiles down as the week progresses or if she just has a great memory, but I had to make a list. This week was especially great so it might be a bit longer than future posts.

This weeks HAPPY HAPPENINGS:

I was so happy on Monday when after 2 days of cold showers I was finally able to take a HOT shower.

I laughed so hard I almost woke Neal up...When I came into bed on Monday night I must have startled Neal almost awake. However, I knew he was still asleep when he asked me to "tell the nightstand to stop moving". I waited a second and then told the nightstand to stop moving. He than asked "where is the nightstand". I said I didn't know and asked him where it was. His response "It disappeared". He often says incoherent things in when I come to bed, but this one was clear and I actually remembered it.

How lucky and blessed I was this week to go up to girls camp from Tue-Thur

Opening my car door and smelling the wonderful scent of the mountains made me smile!

Who couldn't help but be happy to lay on their airbed and have view like this out the tent.

View out the door of the tent

view out the window of the tent

I couldn't help but laugh when I young woman from the camp across the road yelled "we all have butt cracks!"

Pancakes for breakfast! I never make pancakes but I love them. It was quite a treat to have the stake cooks make us pancakes.

I love the sound of the wind through the trees. It is such a peaceful sound. Except at night when your trying to sleep.

I smiled & sighed with relief when I opened the garage on Thursday and there was nothing in my parking spot. I hate parking outside, it is way too hot!

Thursday afternoon when I got home I was very happy to take a shower and use a toilet that flushes.

It makes me happy to see KC & Lillee play together. It is very funny when KC decides to be possessive about a certain toy. I think he does it on purpose. One of these days I will have to get it on video.

Lille & KC played tug a war with a stuffed bone. We tried and tried to get JJ & KC to do this. So it made me happy that Lil & KC did this without prompting. I need a video of this too.

It made me very happy to go back up to the mountains on Friday for the testimony meeting.

I was quite happy to see the girls again. Although it was nice to be home to shower and sleep in my bed all the time I kept wondering what the girls were doing. It was great to see their dirty faces.

    Mountain Shadows ward ROCKS!

How happy I was to yet again smell the wonderful smell of the mountains.

I loved hearing the testimonies of the young woman in our ward. They are great examples to me.

I was oh so very happy to realize last night that Lillee made it though and entire day without pooping or peeing in the house :-) :-) :-) Hopefully this will be the beginning of many many many.....more days of this.

I hope your week is full of Happy Happenings

A Penny Saved...

For about four years or so Neal has been putting his change in a Coke-a-Cola bank. I have also contributed, but I use cash much less than Neal. A couple of weeks ago Neal decided to count his change. He must have been board. I don't have an accurate number but I do know that it is over $120. I made a few suggestions on how we should spend the money. I suggested we could tint the windows on my truck or have a hitch put on. I know it is always about me. I'm not going to lie I'm very spoiled.

However, after the garage/house being flooded and having to move everything in the waters way all by myself I decided that Neal should get something he has been wanting to get for a long time now: Roof racks to store our crap.

This is what the garage looked like after I moved everything out of harms way. I know is doesn't look too bad, but all the stuff is lined up & hidden. Also keep in mind it was about 105 that day and we usually park two cars in our garage.

All the change

Neal had to go up into the "attic" to mark the studs

Rack number one

Working on rack #2

All done

Look at all that stuff! Two thirds of it is Christmas stuff.

I would include a picture of the whole garage but it is not back in order yet. I started working on it after the water heater was installed but the heat was making me dizzy and lightheaded. I'll try to remember to post an "After" picture, but I make no promises.
